The Last of Us
This one here was actually nominated for the game of the year award, and rightly so! We have seen a lot of zombie games before but this one was totally one of a kind. With the heartfelt story it tells and the stunning visuals it offers, you could actually play this game over and over. The fantastic story follows a man called Joel, who is tasked with smuggling a young girl across the border during a zombie apocalypse. The young girl’s name is Ellie, she is immune to the zombie virus that has ravaged the planet. So, she has the potential to save countless lives if research is done on her. Ellie happens to be the same age as Joel’s daughter when she was sadly killed in the midst of chaos when the virus first broke out, so the two quickly form a close bond on their journey. Due to Ellie being born during the apocalypse, she doesn’t know what normal life was like. Ellie can hold her own and is pretty tough for her age due to the cruel world she was born into. Throughout the game, there are a lot of emotional moments. For a Ps4 game, The Last of Us really set the standard for storytelling in video games. Not to mention, the gameplay is also top-notch with a lot of skill and technique involved. Don’t worry though, you can choose the difficulty to suit you. Earlier we spoke about the first installment of the last of us, luckily for fans of the first game a sequel was released not too long ago which is also a PlayStation exclusive. It’s a direct follow on from the first game, without this world graphics with a story just as compelling. The gameplay is brilliant, to say the least. Just like the first game you really feel as though you can play the last of us part 2 over and over again. In the game, you play as multiple characters. One of the coolest things about this game is that you actually get to play like a grown-up version of Ellie looking to avenge the death of Joel. Many fans criticized the story of this game, although we feel that it was perfect considering it really showed the brutality and unpredictability of life in the zombie apocalypse.
