How do you get Netflix for free? That’s a question that most people ask when they find out about the streaming platform for the first time.

While Netflix is priced fairly low for what it offers (unlimited streaming), it can still be a strain on budgets to shell out $100 per year.

Netflix currently has over 158 million paying subscribers. They also have 5.5 million free trial customers who will either pay or not pay after their trial is over.

That means technically that 5.5 million people are using Netflix for free (but only for a limited time of 7 days).

How do you get Netflix for free?

The first and obvious option is to just use their free trial option. That’ll give you 7 days of free unlimited streaming on their network.

Do you need a credit card to use their free trial?

Yes, but that shouldn’t be an issue. Cancelling is super simple and only requires two clicks from within your account dashboard.

No having to call a sales agent, or writing an email requesting cancellation. It’s instant.

Creating multiple accounts

The problem with the free trial is that it’s only a trial. It lasts only one week and then you can’t use it anymore.

While it’s a little on the greyer side, some people choose to create multiple accounts. They simply restart a new trial with a new account once their trial is over. Of course, Netflix does not recommend this.

It does create a little more headache than it’s worth, depending on how you look at it. You’ll need to use different credit cards each time, and that can be tiresome. Most people who do this choose to use prepaid credit cards, but even those have an activation fee of around $2 to $3 each time, so it’s technically not free.

The multiple trials options is mainly used by those who want to watch a single series on Netflix for free, but need more than a week to complete it.

Convince someone to give you access for free

Sharing account usage is allowed on Netflix if the person paying for it has paid for a Standard Plan or Premium Plan.

The Basic Plan only allows for a single user. That means that only one person can be streaming at a time.

The Standard Plan allows two people to be streaming at once, and the Premium Plan allows four people to be streaming at once.

You can still technically share a Basic Plan if the person paying lets you. You just can’t both be logged in at the same time.

The Premium Plan has Ultra HD – There are many people out there who don’t fill up their user volume, but simply pay for the Premium Plan because they prefer the better display quality. Your job is to hunt down those users and get your access to those accounts!

Most people are happy to share it. In fact, all you have to do is tell them Netflix is too expensive. I’ve found that 99% of people with room on their accounts will happily offer their account to you. For some reason, people are super happy to share their Netflix!

Get Netflix for free from your phone, cable, or internet provider

Many phone, cable, or internet providers offer a free membership to Netflix if you sign up with them. I guess it’s technically not free, since you have to sign up with them to get it. But if you were going to sign up for phone, cable, or internet anyways then it’s not necessarily an added expense.

If you’re already signed up with a provider, then try Googling their company name + Netflix. They may have a special deal running that came out AFTER you signed up with them. All you need to do is call them and convince them to add you onto that deal. Most providers will offer it to you simply because the potential of losing you costs more money for them in the long run. As long as they have some sort of partnership with Netflix already formed, then getting yourself included in the deal should be easy.

Use credit card rewards to get free Netflix

The last way to get Netflix for free is to use a credit card that offers rewards back and redeem your Netflix purchases.

For example, if you get cashback from your credit card, you can just apply that towards what you spend on Netflix. Some cards will even offer additional perks (or more points earned) when you sign up with streaming services like Netflix.

Again, this is technically not a free method since you have to earn those points by either signing up for a premium credit card with annual fees, or by reaching their minimum spending threshold.

However, if you’re going to spend money on everyday things anyways, you might as well apply that spending onto a rewards credit card that will allow you to get free Netflix.

Conclusion

There are many workarounds to the monthly fee that Netflix charges. Hopefully, one of these options will be a good fit for you and you can start enjoying free Netflix!
