Why does DoorDash have a waitlist?

DoorDash has a waitlist because sometimes, there are simply more drivers in a single area than there are orders. It’s unfortunate, but there may come a time where DoorDash simply doesn’t need your service at the moment. This often happens if you live in an area with few customers, like in the countryside. There are also times when a certain restaurant may not be accepting orders right now.

On the waitlist for companies like Uber, Lyft, DoorDash, Instacart and Grubhub are workers who are essentially put on hold until the company has enough drivers. Because some companies do not have enough drivers, they put them on hold until they have enough drivers. It is also important to remember that gig workers are independent contractors. You should not forget that you are competing with other drivers when it comes to finding gig opportunities. So when there’s a lot of drivers, it will be difficult to find gig orders. You might not get a lot of orders and you will not earn a lot of money in return.

You should also keep in mind that there’s no way you can immediately get accepted in your DoorDash job. If this is your first time applying for a DoorDash job, oftentimes they’ll need some time to run background checks on you. There are also several things that you need to do to get prioritized as a DoorDash driver. There are things like having a good rating, referrals and completing short tasks.

Why am I stuck in the DoorDash waitlist?

If you apply to be a driver for Instacart, Dasher or Grubhub, you will not receive any notice from the company telling you that your application is being processed. Instead, they will send you an email notifying you that the job is available. Once this job is available for the taking, the company will reach out to you via email.

This availability varies by location, as a result there are different numbers of applicants to the job list. Gig economy delivery drivers were in high numbers during the pandemic. Still, some driving gigs for delivery services are not as popular as other drivers. Driving food for DoorDash is definitely a good option. If you find yourself on the waitlist, you don’t need to despair. Not all hope is lost. If you are on the waiting list for a company to hire you, make sure you use the time wisely. There are plenty of delivery services that you can apply to.

If you’re not stuck on the waitlist you will receive an email saying that they are ready for you to drive. They’ll want to confirm that you’re available to start working within one or two days. This happens after DoorDash conducts a background check on all applicants and reviews their information. It could take a week or two for the company to approve your driver license and review your information. Start by making sure you have all the right information and having your driver’s license and other government-issued ID with you when you apply to become a delivery driver.

Can I skip the DoorDash waitlist?

Unfortunately, there isn’t really a way to speed up the waitlist if you find yourself stuck in it. If you decide you no longer want to use DoorDash or you don’t have time to wait out the wait list, you can deactivate your account. You should know, however, that you’ll have to go through the whole process again if you change your mind later on. You may have to contact DoorDash Support to propose another job application.

It will take at least one business day to deactivate your account. This is as simple as contacting DoorDash Support and asking them to deactivate your account.

You can also simply decide you’ll be unsubscribing from DoorDash. This means you’ll stop receiving any of the emails that DoorDash sends you. Look for a link at the bottom of any email that DoorDash has sent you, and unsubscribe from their lists. If you receive an email that you can start running to work right away, don’t worry. There are no obligations for you to take any delivery orders from this food delivery app.

How do I get off the DoorDash waitlist?

It seems that there is no way for you to get off the DoorDash waitlist by waiting for the service to come to your city or for some other dash company to open up some drivers spots in your city. If you’re not accepted to be a driver for DoorDash because it’s just too saturated in your area, you can try delivering to other markets or gig economy apps, such as Uber, Lyft, or Postmates. However, keep in mind that these apps also have their own wait lists, so if you’re stuck in the DoorDash waitlist because there isn’t really a demand for your service, then it is very likely you’ll end up with the same fate in order gig apps.

There is another way. It is uncertain whether this method would be successful, but if you try changing your ZIP codes to other ones nearby, it could be that you can deliver to the customers in those areas. If DoorDash isn’t available in your area, you really have no other options but to wait for it to come to your area.

What are alternatives to the DoorDash waitlist?

There’s always the option to just try out different markets. This is easy to do: just enter some nearby zip codes and try to see if that market accepts dashers. This is even easier if you can easily commute to different places.

Also, you can use DoorDash in cities you are only temporarily visiting, so long as there is demand in that specific market. When you start the app in a new city or zip code, it should let you dash there as soon as you open the app, even if it’s really busy. This is probably your best bet, because you want to dash as close to home as possible, so try using nearby zip codes.
